hoi,

Fresh from announcing important new distribution deals in the US and Burma, the BBC’s international television news channel, BBC World News, is unveiling a dramatic new look next week when it re-launches from new studios in central London.

The channel will feature a refreshed line-up of programmes and presenters, and will be investing heavily in additional newsgathering capacity around the world.

From 12:00 GMT on Monday 14 January the channel will be broadcast from new state of the art High Definition studios in the BBC’s new London headquarters, the redeveloped Broadcasting House. BBC World News is the first English language channel to go live from the new building

hoi,

ITV has today removed most of the regional identifiers on satellite as part of its latest rebranding exercise.

The change to the service names on satellite bring the broadcaster in line with Freeview, although the regional identifiers were useful when locating other ITV regions.

Notable exceptions are ITV Wales and ITV Border. Both regions still ID themselves accordingly on satellite. These regions are currently being reviewed as part of talks to renew ITV plc's Channel 3 regional licences.

There have been calls to split ITV Border, to enable Scottish viewers to see news more relevant to them in a devolved Scotland. The existing Wales and West region - formally HTV West and Wales - is also earmarked to be split. Channel 3 licences are due to be renewed from 1st January 2015.

ITV has today re-branded its entire output. As part of the changes, the main channel became "ITV", losing the "1" the channel acquired back in 2001 when other ITV branded services were launching.

Coming just over two years after the launch of ITV1+1, the timeshift channel became ITV+1 and the main HD channel became ITV HD. All idents, promotional trails and on-screen graphics also changed today.
