Hello all

- I have tried to patch my Phillips, and made a mess out of it !

=> First i tried with my Oslink, with all the oslink-soft
and win 98,(laptop)
and win XP, ( PC)
did not get the connection going

- then i tried with LOOKERFLASH, ENGLISH
it seemed OK, ( ifolled the manual)

Then when i was finnished, it was reading in the display

=> OUT OF ORDER

an now

I cannot get any communication with my Phillips

PLEASE HELP

- How can i restore my Phillips

all the best Bj?rn

With an Oslink you should get it back to live, the out of order message seems to indicate that you put the wrong version of the firmware in your philips.
The firmware is probably ment for another version of the philips.

With an oslink and the oslink software V4 or V1.5 you should be able to repair your philips.

Greetings

Hi Ronnie

Thank you for your answer

=> I have tried to restore
but, have these problems

- The oslink will not let me read or write the eprom
it will not let me access this part

- the V4 or the V1.5 do not seems to have a good communication
between PC > Oslink > Phillips

what verson of Windows is the best for the Oslink
-> 98 > ME > 2000 > XP

Hi Bj?rn,

- In what state do you have your Printer port (Ecp; EPP; ECP+EPP), you can try to change that. Most of the time the trouble about communication is because of that.
When you fix that the communication will be fixed, and then the type of windows doesn't matter.
I have here several systems with several windows versions and on all systems it works, as long as the port is rightly configured.
In Windows XP i configured the port to never use an interrupt.

I hope you can get it fixed now :)

Hi Bj?rn,

The ECP EPP setting of your port is done in the BIOS of you machine.
When you start the machine you have to press a key to get in the Bios (mostly Del; F2 or F10 dependent of the BIOS).
There you can set the type of the onboard parallel port, the best setting for you, have to be determent by yourself.
For me it is ECP+EPP but for others it can be just ECP or just EPP.
You can set the new value and try if the Oslink will work, if it doesn't then just try another value, till it works.
The IRQ setting of the port can be done inside windows, there you can go to the hardware tab en look at the properties of the port and set it to "do not ever use an interrupt"

The benefit of an Oslink is that you can't really harm your philips.
You can always put new firmware in.
So just try and learn ;-))

Hi Bj?rn,

That is strange.
The firmware you mentioned i have also in my DSX 6072.
Perhaps you have a problem with your Oslink.
Do you know someone with an Oslink who can try it for you?
You can come and visit me (Tiel), don't know where you live but i would find someone near you.
Perhaps when the firmware is newly written, you can also contact it with your Oslink.

Hi Ronnie

- Yeah
maybe my Oslink , don't work
maybe that's the problem all the time

so,
let me think here
- what you are saying = even when i have used the lookerflash
and messed up my phillips
a good oslink should have access to the phillips
and erase faulty firmware,, and then programme the phillips
with proper firmware, the correct way

=> is this right ?

if so

- do you know of some-one,, friends or other person
which have a good working OSLINK FOR SALE

because if i try to buy one on the net
it can also be faulty
- i need to know that the oslink is a working good one !!!!

please emailme

all the best

Hi Bj?rn,

You're right with your assumption that a good Oslink can repair your Philips.
A Good Oslink can write good firmware in the philips even if you messed it up with lookerflash.
I don't know anyone with a good Oslink that will sell it, but you can try to find someone in your neighborhood who is willing to flash your philips.
That way you know if your Oslink is broken, before you buy a new one.
You can buy a Oslink by oslink.org that's the place i bought mine and i never had problems with it.

I have a 7.5V adapter with my Oslink.
I have a 5 pin Oslink, are you connecting your Oslink the right way?

Where do you live?
Otherwise you cab visit me, it's probably quicker then sending it to me.
I wont charge you, if you want to give me something then it's up to you, but i wont charge.
It's a hobby so we all should help eachother, i had to learn it from some else also ;-)

Hi Ronnie

I have talked to others aswell on the net

they also have the 5-pin ( 4 + 1 ) connection

and most of the have this adapter where you can change
the input volts = 6-9-12 ........

so i think my oslink is not working properly

but

please

- can you tell me = step by step
HOW TO CONNECT THE OSLINK
AND HOW TO PROGRAM

( like i was a 6 years old ..........)

1) ...........
2) .........
