The Italian digital satellite bouquet has changed its name from its former Tele+/D+ brand to Tele+ Digitale. Tele+ is the name of the Italian Canal+ pay-TV division, with the name also being marketed on its three premium channels; Tele+ Bianco, Tele+ Nero and Tele+ Grigio. Tele+ which recently merged with Stream, have both started simulcrypt test transmissions, with Tele+ Digitale scheduled to officially encrypt in NDS Videoguard from the 26th August and Stream adding the Mediaguard encryption format. Therefore, Tele+ Digitale will encrypt in Mediaguard/Videoguard, and Stream will encrypt in Mediaguard/Videoguard and Irdeto, allowing compatibility between each platform transmitted on Hot Bird at 13 degrees east. Following the recent merger of both pay-TV platforms, it is predicted that both Tele+ Digitale and Stream will merge into one package within a year.
